Monitor Test Online
Check a new or used monitor in one guided sequence. Mark each pattern as clear or problematic while you inspect pixels, black levels, uniformity, gradients, geometry, and text rendering.

What this screen test can reveal
Pixel defects
Black, white, red, green, and blue fields expose dead pixels and stuck subpixels.
Backlight and black level
The black pattern helps reveal LCD edge bleed, clouding, IPS glow, and pixels that remain illuminated.
OLED uniformity
Near-black and mid-gray fields reveal vertical banding, mura, dirty screen effect, and tint.
Gradients and sharpness
Gradient, grid, and text steps expose banding, scaling errors, blur, and colored text fringes.
How to run an accurate test
- 1
Reset extreme picture settings
Use the display's standard or sRGB mode and disable dynamic contrast before comparing patterns.
- 2
Warm up and clean the panel
Allow 15 to 30 minutes for stable output, then remove dust and fingerprints.
- 3
Run all 10 patterns
Use the arrow controls and mark each step. View uniformity patterns from your normal seating position.
- 4
Verify suspected defects
Repeat affected patterns at another brightness level and input source before deciding the panel is defective.
Frequently asked questions
How long does the complete monitor test take?
A careful first pass takes about five to ten minutes. Spend longer on the 5% gray, black, and gradient steps if you are checking a new OLED monitor during its return period.
Should I test a monitor in a dark room?
Use a dim room for black level and backlight bleed checks, then use normal working light for white uniformity and text clarity. A completely dark room can exaggerate normal IPS glow.
Can this test measure color accuracy?
It can reveal obvious tint and gradient problems, but numerical color accuracy requires a calibrated colorimeter. Browser test patterns are visual diagnostics, not a replacement for measurement hardware.
Does the test work on laptops, TVs, and phones?
Yes. The patterns work on any modern browser. The workflow is optimized for monitors, but the pixel, uniformity, black, and gradient checks are also useful on laptops, televisions, tablets, and phones.
